#39 ASK KATARINA: Tips for Leather Boots in Warmer Climates

''Hi Katarina, you once mentioned that leather shoes are better than those from fake leather. I live in a country where the winter is very mild, more like autumn. Is it still worth for me to invest into expensive leather boots?''
M.

Dear M.,
thank you for your question!

You are right, I am a firm believer that good quality leather shoes are a much better investment than shoes made of imitation leather (plastic, essentially).

However, I can understand that tall boots might not be the most frequently worn item in your closet thanks to the mild climate you live in.
I would still argue though that if you are considering buying boots of any kind, natural leather is a much better choice thanks to its breathability (as opposed to the synthetic counterparts).
Natural, good-quality leather sits comfortably on our skin and minimises any excessive sweating unlike imitation leather that simply locks our feet inside.

Naturally, if you plan to wear boots only occasionally, it might not be the best idea to invest into a really expensive style that might break the bank. I don’t know where you are located, but there are many mid-range brands that offer beautiful boot styles for prices lower than luxury brands.

My personal favourites are
Balagan Studio, Bobbies or Sezane.

And if you are still fearing that tall boots might be too warm, perhaps investing into elegant ankle boots might be worth the try?

I hope you will find my tips helpful!

Yours sincerely,
Katarina
