A heartfelt “Thank you so much for thinking of me!” conveys appreciation for the thought and effort behind the gesture. Even if the gift isn’t quite to your liking, it’s important to remember that the act of giving is what truly matters.

When speaking about the gift, emphasize the intention behind it rather than the item itself. Instead of saying something like, “Oh, I don’t need this,” try a gracious response such as, “You’ve put so much thought into this - I really appreciate it.” If possible, highlight a positive detail about the gift.
