5 Etiquette Tips to Welcome Spring in Style 🌸

Dear Readers,

I’ve been manifesting the arrival of spring like there is no tomorrow 🙂
Is it just me or the past winter felt incredibly long? Well, now, when we finally get to experience longer days and warmer sun rays, I realised how much more I tend to do - at both work and free time. As the seasons change, so do our lifestyles, social calendars, and even etiquette considerations!

Spring brings new energy, outdoor gatherings, and wardrobe transitions, making it the perfect time to refresh some etiquette rules - and maybe even add some new ones! Here are my
Top 5 Etiquette Tips to embrace the spring season with elegance:

1. KEEP ELEGANT FOOTWEAR OPTIONS IN MIND
The warm weather may tempt us to bring out our open-toe sandals, while okay in most cases, some venues still require closed-toe shoes. Whether attending a theatre performance, an upscale restaurant, or a stylish cocktail bar, having a pair of elegant closed-toe shoes in your wardrobe ensures you’re always appropriately dressed.

2. ELEVATE YOUR PERSONAL HYGIENE ROUTINE
Rising temperatures mean an increased risk of body odour, so now is the time to be extra mindful. Daily showers, a good deodorant, and fresh (ideally natural) fabrics will help you stay fresh while ensuring those around you enjoy your company just as much as they did in winter!

3. BE PROMPT WITH RSVPs
Spring and summer are the seasons of celebrations - weddings, garden parties, baby showers, and barbecues fill up social calendars quickly. If you receive an invitation, respond as soon as possible (but not later than three days) to help your host finalise their guest list and arrangements.

4. SEASONAL GIFT GIVING
Spring calls for lighter, fresher choices when bringing a gift to someone’s home. While any gift is thoughtful and should be appreciated, matching the gift to the season just adds that little something extra.
For instance, instead of a deep red wine, a crisp rosé or a sparkling option is perfect for the season. For desserts, swap heavy cakes for something airy like a Pavlova with fresh berries.

5. BE MINDFUL OF ALLERGIES
Spring blooms are beautiful, but not for those suffering from seasonal allergies. Flowers bring along pollen that can make gatherings uncomfortable for some. If hosting, consider checking with guests about allergies before filling your space with fresh flowers. If you're a guest, ask the host about the gathering location to ensure your allergies won’t be triggered.

As we step into spring, let’s do so with grace, consideration, and a fresh perspective on etiquette. After all, thoughtfulness is always in season!

Wishing you all a beautiful start to the spring season.

Yours sincerely,
Katarina
